Deep Sky Objects

Hubble Space Telescope - Deep Field Image of Galaxies-10 Billion LY away.
Deep Sky Objects are objects that are outside our Solar System.
They include many types of nebulae, galaxy and stars all at great distances from us.
Their distances are measured in light years (LY) and in ONE second light can travel 300 000 km.
The Coma Cluster is the most distant object I have observed with my 250mm telescope.
It is 300 million light years away!
Binoculars or a Telescope will bring many deep sky objects into view.

Types of Deep Sky Object
- Planetary Nebulae.-Dying stars shedding their outer gas layers.
- Open Clusters. -Loose collections of stars found in our Milky Way Galaxy.
- Globular Clusters- Spherical concentrations of stars surrounding our Galaxy.
- Nebulae-Gas and dust clouds in our Galaxy. Many of which are star forming regions.
- Supernova Remnants-Remains of stars that have exploded in our Galaxy.
- Galaxies-Separate star systems outside our Milky Way at huge distances.
- Double Stars-Stars found to consist of two or more when viewed telescopically.
