Jon's Astro Sketches

Hi and welcome to my Astronomy sketches site.
My name is Jon Webdale and I live in Colchester England.
I am a visual amateur astronomer, and with my
Orion Optics (UK) 250mm aperture reflector telescope (pictured above) I
observe all types of deep sky objects and the planets when the skies in England permit.
A reasonable site away from light pollution is an advantage, but if this is not possible
Light Pollution Reduction filters will allow the brighter deep sky objects to be seen.
I often make sketches of what I see, and by doing this on a regular basis it helps train the
eye to "see" more detail. The sketches are later scanned on computer and I reverse the colour
to produce an image of what can actually be seen in "real time". Click on a link and enjoy!
"Real Time" Astronomy Advantages:
- The beauty of an object can be seen by just looking.
- Minimum equipment required.
- The eye can learn to"see" more detail over a period of time.
- A record of the object being observed takes only minutes to make.
